Whipping up a desert storm

I am finally back from another epic Marathon Des Sables race over 270km of the Moroccan Sahara desert, and as ever, the physical and mental challenge did not disappoint.

Things have changed a bit since I attempted this back in 2021 and experienced epic failure, and I boarded the flight to Morocco with my pal Ian feeling some trepidation.

Just getting to the start line is a huge feat - a flight followed by a 10-hour coach journey to arrive in "The Bivouac" - the middle of a sandy nowhere. Fortunately for us everything went smoothly, although others had cancelled flights, missed coaches and lost luggage to deal with.
