World's smallest violin

Boffins fiddle around just right to create a hair-sized instrument

SCIENTISTS, take a bow... they have just created the world's smallest violin.

Loughborough University physicists in the UK used cutting-edge nanotechnology to create the miniscule fiddle, which is smaller than a human hair.

Made of platinum, it measures just 35 microns long and 13 microns wide, with a micron being one millionth of a metre.
