After year in hot seat Amorim can finally see light at the end of Old Trafford tunnel

- BY STEVEN RAILSTON

RUBEN AMORIM warned the storm was coming after his Manchester United appointment - but the dark clouds have lifted above Old Trafford and brighter days seem to be ahead.

United have won three Premier League games on the bounce and Amorim has been nominated for October's manager of the month award.

The victory against Liverpool at Anfield felt like it could be a defining result and the Red Devils built on that by securing three points against Brighton last weekend.

It's the one-year anniversary of Amorim's appointment from Sporting Lisbon today, and the 40-year-old will try to mark the occasion by winning at Nottingham Forest.

And after a tumultuous first 12 months in Manchester, Amorim was asked if the dark clouds had finally parted.

"We need to think positively, but we also need to be prepared that football is like this," said the Portuguese coach.

"I trust my players more, I think they trust me more. That will come with wins.

"You can sense that because everyone now is saying, 'Oh, how connected they are, and they believe in the manager'.

"It's about winning games, it didn't change a lot, because against Arsenal [a 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford on the opening day] I saw the same thing.

"So I don't know. I think we are in a better place, but it's also really good to be always without feeling and prepared that something can change.

"We will pay attention to the details. I can say that we are a better team at this moment."
