Ilkay: Don't make hasty comparisons

ILKAY Gundogan has targeted a return to Manchester to become part of the coaching staff.

But he has ruled out being part of the new management team at the Etihad next season following Pep Guardiola’s exit.

Enzo Maresca is expected to replace Guardiola as manager this summer and Gundogan has warned City supporters not to compare the Italian to his predecessor.

Gundogan still has 12 months remaining on his Galatasaray deal, and would like to play one more season with the Turkish club.

But the German admits he would like to go into coaching once he retires — and believes there could be a role for him at the Etihad.
