Narrow vote in Senate for the 'one, big beautiful Bill'

THE Republican-controlled Senate narrowly passed the centrepiece of President Donald Trump's legislative agenda, dubbed the “one big, beautiful Bill,” yesterday a move that has been called “devastating” by the Democrats.

The Bill received a 51-50 vote where Vice President JD Vance broke a tie after three Republicans opposed the legislation, including Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky, Susan Collins of Maine and Thom Tillis of North Carolina.

Democratic National Committee Chair Ken Martin condemned the budget being passed by the Senate in a statement.

Mr Martin said: “Donald Trump and Senate Republicans have sent a clear message to the American people: Your kids, your job, and your elderly relatives don't matter. This is one of the worst Bills in the history of Congress.”
