POLICE officers shocked a woman by making her empty her freezer as they quizzed her about Madeleine McCann.

The German national was suspected of killing the three-year-old in a hit-and-run in the Portuguese resort of Praia da Luz.

Police twice searched the home she shared with her British partner, who was a chef at the Ocean Club resort, where Madeleine vanished in 2007.

The restaurant worker said officers even searched her freezer. She told one: "Do you think I've cut her up into pieces and I'm going to have her for dinner?"
