Cost of residential electricity set to rise for customers in October

BORD Gais Energy and Pinergy have announced price hikes for residential electricity customers from October.

Bord Gais will be increasing its standard unit rates by 13.5% while their standing charges will rise by 12% from October 12. The price hikes will result in bills for their 369,000 electricity customers rising by an average of €18.16 per month, or €218 a year.

Bord Gais blamed the price hike on “continued increases in network charges, the higher cost of doing business and the impact of wholesale energy market pricing”.
