Many young workers drink 'to try fit in'

IRELAND'S boozy workplace culture means most young people drink to fit in, a new survey to mark Alcohol Awareness Week this week has found.

The study by Drinkaware found one in four of all adults (26%) drink to avoid feeling left out.

But this more than doubles for younger adults, with 53% of those aged 18-24 and 42% of those aged 25-34 citing conformity as the reason for drinking in the past 30 days.
