How the Reds made it possible - with £300m accounted for already - to spend, spend, spend, in bid to ensure even more success

- BY CHRIS McKENNA X@cmckennasport

LIVERPOOL are poised to take their summer spending close to £300million when the signing of Hugo Ekitike is made official in the next 24 hours.

And the Premier League champions are not expected to stop there.

It was always the plan to bolster Arne Slot’s squad to help retain the title and have a crack at the Champions League.

But the eye-watering sums Liverpool are paying have raised eyebrows across Europe.

Many are questioning just how the Reds are managing to afford it.

Ekitike is expected to have his medical today before completing a £79m move from Eintracht Frankfurt. Liverpool's impressive transfer splurge is all down to a combination of long-term planning, financial shrewdness and being one of the biggest clubs on the planet when it comes to commercial success.

Liverpool have already broken the British transfer record with a £116m deal for Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.
