KAORU WRECKS PEP'S TITLE BID
Irish Daily Star
|January 08, 2026
WHAT a time for soon-to-be Manchester City midfielder Antoine Semenyo to score a last-minute winner.
City will badly wish he hadn't been 250 miles away still playing for Bournemouth as they were held in the Premier League for the third time in 2026.
With just 13 senior outfield players fit after injuries to Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol at the weekend, tired City players were asked to go again and hope that their spirit would get them through.
Add to that a first appearance for the club for Max Alleyne, the 20-year-old centre-back who was at Watford on Monday enjoying a season-long loan before he was drastically recalled.
However tired the legs were - and boy were they - to a man City showed that they were up for a fight against Brighton.
