IRAN ON THE BRINK

THE world was on high alert last night after Iran threatened immediate revenge attacks on the US if Donald Trump stepped in to interfere with the latest protests.

Chaotic scenes broke out in the capital Tehran and cities across the country, with reports that more than 500 people have been killed and 10,000 arrested.

Trump said the US stands ready to help as Iran "is looking at FREEDOM".

The speaker of Iran's parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, warned the US and Israel would be targeted if the US struck Iran, and shouted: "Death to America."

He said: "In the event of an attack on Iran, both the occupied territory and all American military centres, bases and ships in the region will be our legitimate targets."

Reza Pahlavi, the exiled son of Iran's last Shah, who lives in the US, yesterday urged protesters to keep going but stay in groups.

He said on X: "Your compatriots around the world are proudly shouting your voice... In particular, President Trump, as the leader of the free world, has carefully observed your indescribable bravery and has announced that he is ready to help you... I know that I will soon be by your side."
