Hooter system robbing us of drama

DONEGAL would have been damn glad to hear David Coldrick's full-time whistle before Ryan O'Toole was able to restart from a sideline ball.

But what an incredible anti-climax it was. Despite confusion at the time for most, including myself, it seems Coldrick was right to blow it up when he did, but the sour taste will linger.

It was a horrible way to finish a good, honest contest. The FRC have done so much good work to make the game better and the improvements are obvious.

But why they have tried to complicate things with a hooter system is baffling.

It's absolutely not necessary and is actually robbing us of a few more minutes of dramatic action at the end of close games.

I hope they look at scrapping it for the All-Ireland series.

On the pitch, Donegal weren't at their blistering best but showed why they will be so hard to beat.
