Heartbroken dad highlights inhalant risks

THE heartbroken father of a young teenager who sadly lost his life from inhaling deodorant fumes had told how children who do this are “rolling a dice”.

Daniel Maguire, 14, a sporty and health-conscious teenager who “loved the gym” died suddenly and tragically last September in his bedroom after inhaling fumes from a can of deodorant at the family home in Hartstown, Dublin 15.

His brave dad Dermot spoke at the Joint Committee on Drugs Use yesterday to discuss the dangers of inhalants and the tragic day he lost Daniel.

He said: “Daniel was a marvellous young man, a beautiful young boy. He had the personality, he loved the gym. He had a huge group of friends, real fit, real healthy.
