Goblet has the oldest depictions of creation

A SILVER goblet made 4,300 years ago is engraved with the world’s earliest image of the creation of the universe, new research has claimed.

It challenges earlier views that linked its motifs to the Babylonian Enuma Elish, compiled more than a millennium later.

Instead, the team showed that the imagery represents one of the earliest known cosmological depictions.

The report's coauthor, Daniel Sarlo, said: “The goblet does not tell of a violent struggle between gods, but of a peaceful process of cosmic ordering.
