Centresc accepts artificials in a world first

Dublin branches out with tree recycle pilot

IT'S an age-old Christmas debate - real tree or artificial? And which option is the best for the planet?

While real trees can be sourced sustainably, what happens to the wire and plastic variety when it reaches the end of its life?

The sad truth is many have ended up in landfills or incinerators - until now!

In a world first, a recycling firm is offering Dubliners the chance to give their old artificial trees anew life as recycled parts of someone else's new tree.

This year, more than a million artificial trees have reached the end of their festive lives in Ireland.

But Project reTREE, which runs to the end of January 2026, allows Dubliners to drop off any artificial tree at Ballyogan Recycling Centre or Ballymount Civic Amenity.
