Trump's ally Kirk is shot dead at uni

CHARLIE Kirk, Donald Trump ally and co-founder of conservative youth organisation Turning Point USA has been shot dead at a rally.

The father-of-two was speaking at an event at Utah Valley University when a single shot rang out and he clutched at his neck.

Videos posted to social media show him speaking into a microphone while sitting under a white tent emblazoned with the slogan "The American Comeback" and “Prove Me Wrong”.

Stunned spectators can be heard gasping and screaming before people start to run away.
