ISRAELI Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has nominated Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize - while his war in Gaza rages on.

Mr Netanyahu announced the gesture at a meeting with the US President to thrash out ceasefire plans.

At least 18 Palestinians were killed in Israeli air strikes during the talks between the leaders at the White House.

And five Israeli soldiers died in a roadside bomb attack overnight.

At the White House, Mr Netanyahu presented Mr Trump with a letter he said he had sent to the Nobel Peace Prize committee, hailing the president's efforts to end Middle East conflicts.
