Designer Coleman helps mum refurb late parents' house

- BY SEAN MURPHY

A YOUNG mum whose parents died in recent years is the focus of RTE's Home Rescue.

Carrie Haskins lives in a century-old house in Athy, Co Kildare, with her kids Harry, seven, Charlotte, four, and three-year-old Joshua.

It is her childhood home which belonged to her late parents Frances, who died in 2021 and Johnny, who passed away a year later. Now Carrie, 35, is trying to build for the future.

MIRACLE

With the help of designer Dee Coleman and builder Peter Finn, episode three of RTE's Home Rescue: The Big Fix performs another mini miracle.

Carrie said: "My dad was very proud of this house because he got it from his gigs.

"He was a bass player and used to travel around the world.

"The house is upside down, it's messy. We had a really few hard years and things got put on hold. My mum unfortunately passed away from Covid in 2021. Nobody expected her to pass away. My dad was my rock and he helped me to pick mum's coffin.
