TV star Brendan Courtney has said he feels lucky he is not homeless and has somewhere to stay after a car crashed into his house and destroyed it last month.

The Keys To My Life star had just returned home from a holiday when the accident happened on August 30.

Minutes after he let his dog Nancy in from the garden of the Wicklow property, an 84-year-old woman accidentally ploughed into the front of his home.

Brendan told us: “An 84-year-old woman at the top of the hill hit the accelerator instead of the brakes and the car took off down the hill and crashed through my new front wall and straight into my house.

“It was 11pm. I was just back two hours from my holidays. I had just been standing in the doorway where she hit.

“Me and the dog were in the garden at the front. The dog was having a wee and I was on my phone texting. I went inside and then a few minutes later, she hit.

“I was very lucky. A big, massive piece of the wall exploded and flew over my car and into the window of my neigh-bours where their baby sleeps. It could've been absolute carnage.

“I mean if she hit me and the dog, we would be dead. There is no doubt about it. The front wall exploded in so hard that a big piece of the block hit the back of the room and smashed the wall at the back of the room.
