Time to show a backbone to deal with 'T. Rex' Don, rages Newsom

- MIKEY SMITH

STAND UP TO HIM

CALIFORNIA Governor Gavin Newsom branded world leaders "pathetic" and "complicit" for failing to stand up to Donald Trump.

Speaking at the World Economc Forum in Davos, the outspoken Democrat said overseas allies' servile approach to diplomacy with Trump was "embarrassing".

He warned: "He's a T-Rex. You mate with him or he devours you." Newsom called Europe's reaction to Trump "pathetic" and "embarrassing" and urged European leaders to unite and stand up to the United States.

He told reporters at Davos: "It is time to get serious, and stop being complicit The California governor also slammed the differences between what Europeans are saying in public to Trump versus what they say privately.

Newsom said: "This guy's playing folks for fools. I mean, everybody's talking behind his back. They're laughing at him, and meanwhile, they're sucking up to him. Have a backbone." UNITED "It's time to buck up.

And it's time to get serious. And stop being complicit. And it's time to stand tall and firm, have a backbone.

"I've seen this in the United States, a supine congress playing both sides.

Saying one thing on a text or tweet and another thing publicly. It's time to have principles.
