RYDER Cup host Heather McMahan has reportedly apologised to Rory McIlroy and quit her role after leading a foulmouthed chant at the Irishman.
The 36-year-old endured relentless abuse from the raucous crowd at Bethpage Black Golf Course while partnering Shane Lowry in Saturday's opening fourball match.
Lowry was the hero for Europe last night, securing a crucial halfpoint to help win the Ryder Cup.
Speaking to Sky Sports afterwards, an overwhelmed Lowry struggled to put into words the magnitude of his achievement.
