Tyrone and Armagh to meet in what will be an epic opener

- GARRY DOYLE

TYRONE and Armagh. The draw couldn't have handed Ulster fans a more titanic opener.

In what is already shaping up as the tie of the provincial Championships, these two historic rivals will meet with everything to play for.

That said the winners face no easy path. A quarterfinal against Fermanagh awaits, and if they survive that, a semifinal against either defending Ulster champions Donegal or a rejuvenated Down.

The road to an Ulster final has rarely been so punishing.

The other side of the Ulster draw offers something closer to breathing room. Derry, champions in 2022 and 2023, take on Antrim, with the winners of Monaghan or Cavan waiting in the semifinal.

Experience, form, and a history of winning count for much here, and Derry will fancy their chances.
