Lou better for the Aras than trailblazing prof?

IT'S been a busy week in the presidential race, with the election just a month away. Amid the rat-tlebag of potential candidates to emerge, one name stood out.

It wasn’t young gun Nick Delehanty, who launched his campaign on Tuesday, talking about the importance of preserving national identity over multiculturalism.

The former lawyer, 35, grew up on a pig farm in Tipperary and more recently made decent runs in the local and general elections in his new home area of Dublin Bay South.

It wasn't Conor McGregor, who got back in the ring on Wednesday, making the questionable claim he had enough political support to run.

"I have it secured," the fighter posted on social media. "Ireland's Call will be answered." McGregor said he even has "the most prestigious party of them all" on board, whoever he thinks that is.

I wondered if "gender row teacher" Enoch Burke would throw his hat in the ring, in an announcement live from Wilson's Hospital. No word from Flatley yet, but we live in hope.

Then, in the midst of the madness, a real contender emerged yesterday in the form of Louise Richardson.
