Hospital and HSE apology over death

THE HSE has apologised for failings in the caring for a pensioner who died two days after being discharged from a hospital A&E eight years ago.

Mother and grand-mother Noreen McCormack had been feeling unwell and fell down the stairs at home.

But when she was brought to the Midland Regional Hospital emergency department, the High Court heard, she was treated for the fall, but later died from pneumonia.
