Hard work listening to super-rich lecture us
Irish Daily Mirror
|November 17, 2025
THERE'S a weird new trend in Ireland now, where the super-rich get to lecture us all about how we're not working hard enough.
It's either that, or you have the likes of Denis O'Brien, Michael O'Leary or and the Collison Brothers (the self-made tech billionaires from Limerick) telling us that Ireland's going to hell in a handbasket and only they have the brains to sort it all out. Denis O'Brien was at it again during the week, giving out about Irish people working remotely or working from home.
This is the same Denis O'Brien who usually works from a private jet, his luxury golf course in Portugal or various millionaire gaffs in Malta and the Caribbean.
You can imagine the kind of restaurants he does his working lunches in, safe to say he's a stranger to Pot Noodles. Given that many Irish people working from home are doing it in the spare bedroom or even a garden shed, without a private chef, chauffeur and secretary, it may be that multimillionaire Denis has a different concept of the level of luxury one gets when working remotely.
