Redemption for Fergal Ó Sé's club, 22 years on from agonising defeat

- BY PAUL KEANE

BOSS Fergal Ó Sé said An Ghaeltacht's All-Ireland club IFC title success was 'redemption' - 22 years after losing the senior final.

Ó Sé was a player/manager back in 2004 and acknowledged the one-point loss to Caltra haunted him afterwards.

It was a similar story for ex-club and county stars Dara Ó Cinnéide and Aodan MacGearailt who are current selectors.

But they can finally call themselves All-Ireland club winners after a surprisingly comfortable Croke Park win.

Derry and Ulster champions Glenullin played a cautious, defensive game and with their forwards also misfiring, only scored a point in the first 51 minutes.

Ruaidhri O Beaglaoich took full advantage with six points for An Ghaeltacht while Ó Sé praised Cork great Aidan Walsh for the job he did at midfield.

All-Ireland-winning Kerry defender Brian O Beaglaoich nabbed another precious medal too while Padraig Ó Sé got his hands on one of the very few medals his famous father, Paidi, never did.
