Family of Freya, 12, thank locals after drowning

THE family of a girl who drowned in a river have thanked the community who “rallied around” them in the “darkest time of our lives".

Freya Tobin, 12, from Newcastle, Co Tipperary, died after she got into difficulty while swimming in the River Suir on Friday, July 11, at 4.20pm. It is understood Freya and a pal got into difficulty swimming around the same time. Her friend swam to safety and raised the alarm.
