Less flatulent sheep bred to save the planet

BOFFINS hope to breed sheep which fart less in a bid to reduce their environmental impact.

They are looking at developing ways to identify farm animals who emit smaller amounts of gas, which can then be selected as part of breeding programmes.

Scotland's Rural College (SRUC) and the British Texel Sheep Society (BTSS) have teamed up with sheep-breeding experts to compare methane and carbon dioxide emissions.
