TAKING HEAT CSO report revealed large wholesale electricity price and bill gap

- BY DANNY DE VAAL

ENERGY suppliers are ripping Irish consumers off and the Government is refusing to intervene, Sinn Fein has said.

The party's energy spokesman Pa Daly blasted Fine Gael and Fianna Fail after it emerged wholesale electricity, which is the price supplier's pay, was down while consumer's power bills remained high.

Figures from the Central Statistics Office revealed wholesale electricity prices fell by more than 16% in the year to September and are 75% lower than a peak in August 2022.
