'I'm not scared, more big fish will be caught': Day after Bikram Singh Majithia's arrest, Bhagwant Mann says war against drugs to continue

A day after the Punjab Vigilance Bureau arrested Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia in a disproportionate assets case allegedly involving the laundering of more than Rs 540 crore of drug money, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said on Thursday that more big fish will fall into the police net soon. "All these days, they were saying we are not catching the big fish. Now, they are crying political vendetta. It is sad that those who are opposing our action are also involved. Those who are supporting them are guilty enough. They will be brought to the book. No matter if they are the president of any political party," Mann said, addressing the media in Chandigarh on Thursday.

Mann, who did not name Majithia during the entire press conference, also expressed fear that there could be a threat to his life. “Action will be taken against those guilty. No matter who he is. Chahe who mera bhi koi nuksaan karna chahte ho (No matter if they want to harm me). Even if they see me as a thorn in their flesh, as they are now feeling that our action has broken the cartels and affected their business, I will still come down heavily on them. I will not be scared. I will hold public meetings and go to the public. In the coming days, you will get such news that more big fish have been caught, mansions made from drugs have been bulldozed,” he added. Reiterating that he may be harmed, Mann said, “If they want to harm me, I do not care. I have already lived twice as long as Bhagat Singh. If we succeed, it will be good. At least, we will be able to clean the mess.”
