A RUN DOWN OF WHAT IS HAPPENING ON THE REGION'S MUSIC SCENE THIS WEEK

Historic Hessle event is set to be a fun-filled 'Feast'

THIS Sunday sees the annual Hessle Feast hosted in Hessle square and surrounding venues.

The event originally was planned for the end of July but due to unforeseen circumstances was postponed until August 31.

The free event which has been traced back to the 1800s is now ran by a very small number of volunteers that give up their time to ensure the event keeps on proving more successful going forward.

They took over the running of Hessle Feast in 2014 and it has gone from strength to strength.

Last year they saw unprecedented numbers attend the event, which was fantastic, it creates a huge footfall for the town and it's great to see the whole community come together for the day to enjoy the festivities.

A spokesperson for The Hessle Feast explained: “We have event insurance, event licence, street trading licence, road closures licence, road closure signage/barrier hire, stewards and road closure manning, sound equipment, first aid and medical support as some of our main costs.

“We also set aside a few hundred pounds for banners, posters and advertising but we always try to keep costs to the minimum.
