Black and Whites prove their own worst enemies - again

If Hull FC don't make the Super League playoffs this year, then they'll only have themselves to blame.

- By DAN TOMLINSON

Once again, when entering a game as favourites, they produced a lacklustre performance, with the Black and Whites' wretched home form returning in what was a disappointing 30-14 defeat to Huddersfield Giants on Saturday.

That's not to dilute any credit from Huddersfield, who came to Hull with a plan and saw it out to effect. They got a grip on their hosts and ran away with the contest in pretty comfortable fashion. But for a Hull side who took such a big step forward with victory at Wigan Warriors last week, this latest loss was frustrating, to say the least, with their top six charge taking a big hit once again on their home ground.

Hull, who have just one victory to their name at the MKM all season, and even that came by the skin of their teeth, were poor. In what was a flat account, they didn't have the same intensity as last week, with Wakefield now holding the advantage in the league table.

Hull just weren't at it. They were lethargic at times and didn't have the strike to trouble Huddersfield, who earned a fourth win of the year and their second over John Cartwright's side.
