LUCY SYKES DITCHED THE 9 TO 5 TO SET UP HER BLOSSOMING BUSINESS

- By DEBORAH HALL

AN East Yorkshire woman stepped out of the comfort zone of a ten-year career in marketing to launch an unusual business.

Lucy Sykes decided to ditch the daily grind of the commute and office politics to follow her dream, turning her hobby passion into a fulfilling career.

Lucy has developed a creative side hustle into a blooming, full-time job creating bespoke furniture for blushing brides.

Her unique pieces of wedding furniture encase bridal bouquets and floral arrangements within resin, perfectly preserving them forever, before setting them within stunningly individual tables, object d'art and ornaments.

A distinctive focal point for any room, they provide a perfect reminder of a happy couple's big day.

Lucy spent years managing marketing teams for local telecoms and fuel distribution companies before launching her business, Lucy Did This, full-time in October 2024.

She admits it was initially scary striking out on her own, but is now relishing her new creative career.
