Ukraine committed 'terrorist attack.says Russia on its general's killing

Russia has arrested Akhmad Kurbanov of Uzbekistan, who was promised $100,000 and resettlement in an EU country, by Ukraine's security service for the killing

The Kremlin on Wednesday accused Ukraine of committing a "terrorist attack" by killing a Russian general and his aide in Moscow, in its first comments since the bomb blast.

"It is now obvious who ordered this terrorist attack. It is once again confirmed that the Kyiv regime does not shy away from terrorist methods," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters, more than 24 hours after the attack claimed by Ukraine.

Russia's security service said on Wednesday it detained a citizen from Uzbekistan in the bombing that killed Lt. Gen. Igor Kirillov as he left his southeastern Moscow apartment - a bold assassination that was claimed by Ukraine's security service.

Kirillov was killed on Tuesday by a bomb hidden on an electric scooter outside his apartment building, a day after Ukraine's security service leveled criminal charges against him. His assistant, Ilya Polikarpov, also was killed.

The brazen bombing brought the nearly 3-year-old war in Ukraine once again to the streets of the capital.
