U’khand govt proposes privacy focused changes to UCC rules

The Uttarakhand government has proposed major amendments to the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Rules, 2025, focusing on protecting individual privacy, curtailing the powers of registrars, introducing flexibility in mandates related to identity proof and striking down clauses on parental intimation and pregnancy disclosure with regard to live-in relationships.
In that regard, the state government on Wednesday submitted an affidavit listing the changes and deletions it has proposed in the UCC Rules, 2025, before the Uttarakhand high court during a hearing of petitions challenging various provisions of code.
