HC pulls up govt for not probing defects in flyover

The Delhi high court on Tuesday reprimanded the Delhi government for its failure to order a probe into the defective construction of a flyover near Nathu Colony Chowk, saying that it is clear that someone is "trying to push corruption under the carpet".

- Shruti Kakkar

The court was hearing a plea filed by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator Jitendra Mahajan, seeking directions to the Delhi government and its departments to repair and reopen the flyover in northeast Delhi.

The tender of the northeast Delhi flyover was floated by the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC) and the project was completed in 2015.

In his petition, argued by advocate KK Mishra, Mahajan claimed that though defects in the flyover were visible since 2015, DTTDC and the builder had not been able to rectify the same.
