Districts restrict fuel purchase per vehicle, bus services halted

Deputy commissioners of Shimla and Mandi districts in Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday issued orders to ration fuel with a maximum of 10 litres per vehicle, as an ongoing truckers' protest triggered panic-buying of fuel over fears of stock shortage. Emergency vehicles, however, were exempted from this restriction.

As many as 34 oil tankers were sent from Hindustan Petroleum's depot in Nalagarh under police security to Solan, Shimla and Sirmaur districts, officials said.
The Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation suspended bus services on 138 routes due to shortage of fuel. "The biggest challenge is in Una, Hamirpur, Mandi and Kangra districts.
