Draft Rules for IST Adoption Notified
Hindustan Times West UP
|January 28, 2025
The government on Monday notified rules to harmonize all Indian clocks with indigenous atomic clocks to lend the Indian Standard Time (IST) a "millisecond to nanosecond accuracy".
NEW DELHI:
The draft Legal Metrology (Indian Standard Time) Rules, 2025, notified by the Department of Consumer Affairs (DoCA), seeks to ensure uniformity and precision in timekeeping—an outcome a government press release said will lead to 'One Nation, One Time'. Mint was the first to report on the proposed development on 27 March 2024.
