ON OCT 16, LOKPAL FLOATED A TENDER TO PROCURE SEVEN BMW CARS TO PROVIDE A VEHICLE FOR EACH MEMBER OF THE OMBUDSMAN
Opposition parties on Tuesday slammed anti-corruption ombudsman Lokpal's decision to procure seven luxury cars, collectively worth around ₹5 crores, with parties describing the optics of the move as “terrible”.
“The Lokpal of India invites open tenders from reputed agencies for supply of seven BMW 8 series 330Li cars to the Lokpal of India,” read the tender floated by Lokpal on October 16, which specifically mentioned procurement of the ‘M Sport’ model with “long wheelbase” and in white colour.
