A special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court in Ranchi on Monday reserved its order in a petition filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) seeking an order to ensure senior IAS officer Pooja Singhal, accused of embezzling crores of MGNREGA funds in Khunti district, is not posted in any department under the Jharkhand government.

RANCHI:

A 2000-batch IAS officer, Singhal was granted bail by the PMLA court on December 7, 2024 after spending over two years in jail. On January 23, the state government revoked her suspension and reinstated her, following which ED moved the court. Singhal has re-joined the department of personnel and is awaiting a new posting.

"The judgment has been reserved," Singhal's counsel Indrajit Sinha told reporters. "Next date in the case is February 21."
