Rising Attacks On Police: JD-U Smells Foul Play

At least five policemen, including an assistant sub-inspector (ASI), were injured on Saturday after an angry mob attacked a police team trying to settle a brawl during Holi celebrations in Bihar's Bhagalpur.
PATNA: JD-U working president and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Jha hinted at some foul play behind the daring attacks on police and said it needed to be found out who were behind such incidents.
Two ASIs have been killed in the last three days in Munger and Araria while taking on the liquor mafia and there have been quite a few instances of attack on police, giving the Opposition RJD the ammunition to hit out at the Nitish government.
Jha said while prompt action was being taken, it should also be investigated if some people were out to defame the government and if there was a pattern.
