ED books 29 celebrities for endorsing illegal betting apps

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a money laundering case against more than two dozen celebrities and influencers, including film actors Vijay Deverakonda, Rana Daggubati, Prakash Raj and Manchu Lakshmi, in connection with a probe into illegal online betting platforms operating out of Telangana.

According to official sources, the ED has taken cognisance of at least five FIRs filed by state police to initiate proceedings under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
