Bokaro DFO Rajneesh Kumar has written a letter to North Chhotanagpur commissioner Pawan Kumar for restoration of the nature of 85.75 acres of protected forest land as 'jungle-sal' which was changed to 'Purana Parti' by Settlement Office, Dhanbad in Revisional Survey khatiyan published in 2013 without authorisation and in violation of Forest Conservation Act.

- Raj Kumar

RANCHI:

The land is of plot number 450 and 426 of book number 59 under Tetuliya Mouza under Chas Thana (number 38) of Bokaro district. It was entered in the name of Umaayush Multicom Private Land by adopting unfair means in 2013, the DFO has alleged in the letter.

"The notification issued by the State Government under the CNT Act, 1908, for the district of Dhanbad regarding the purpose of survey and recording of rights (vide S.O. 239, dated 17th February 1981) prohibits the preparation of records of rights connected with the reclamation of jungle lands and wastelands in areas declared as protected forests under the Indian Forest Act, 1927. Despite this, officials of the Settlement Office, Dhanbad changed the nature of land from 'Jungle Sal' to 'Purana Parti'," the letter further reads.
