RANCHI: Jharkhand unit of the Congress party raised the demand for the formulation of laws to strengthen the Scheduled Tribe Sub-Plan (STSP) and Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan (SCSP) on Monday.

The party made the demand while addressing a press conference at its office. Those who spoke included State Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore, State Congress President Keshav Mahto Kamlesh, former Finance Minister Rameshwar Oraon, and Congress Legislative Party chief Rajesh Kacchap.

"If the central government wants to work for the upliftment of Scheduled Castes and Tribes, it should enact laws to strengthen the STSP and SCSP," said party president Keshav Mahto Kamlesh.

Explaining why such a law is required, Mahto said the plans played an important role in the development of SCs and STs.
