10-year jail for Chaibasa ZP member in rape case

A local court sentenced Chaibasa district council (zila parishad) member and labour leader John Miran Munda to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ₹5,000 for raping a woman on promise of a higher post in the party and training her in politics, lawyers familiar with the case said on Wednesday.
"The court of the first additional district and sessions judge, Vinod Kumar, on Tuesday sentenced accused John Miran Munda to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and a ₹5,000 fine for raping a woman on false promises and making her abort her pregnancy. In case of failure to pay the fine, the convict will have to serve an additional three months in jail," a prosecutio
