State Budget to Be Tabled Today, Focus Likely on Infra Boost, Jobs

Rajasthan finance minister Diya Kumari will present the state budget for 2025-2026 in the state assembly on Wednesday with a focus likely to be on measures to boost the economy and strengthen infrastructure while reducing freebies, officials aware of the matter said on Tuesday.

The finance minister is expected to announce funds for the new districts where basic infrastructure such as offices needs to be built. The previous Congress government had announced the new districts, but did not sanction any funds, they added.

The Centre has announced to implement the eighth pay commission recommendations for government employees and the state will have to follow suit. Diya Kumari is likely to sanction funds for the state government employees, in line with the pay commission recommendations, officials said.

The focus of the state budget will also be on environmental protection, they added.

A senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader familiar with the development said, "The green budget will focus on preserving and safeguarding the environment, with all government departments directed to incorporate eco-friendly practices into their projects. Whether it's road construction, building development, or water conservation, the green budget will ensure that these activities align with sustainability goals to prevent any harm to the environment," he said.
