Cong announces protest after Nat’l Herald verdict
Hindustan Times Rajasthan
|December 18, 2025
The Congress on Wednesday announced a nationwide protest against the Narendra Modi government, a day after a Delhi court refused to take cognisance of the Enforcement Directorate's allegations of money laundering against top party leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), however, pointed out that criminal proceedings against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the case are still ongoing, and that the trial court's order does not amount to a "clean chit".
At a press conference at his residence, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge said, "The case over National Herald is nothing but political vendetta. This newspaper doesn't belong to today. It started from 1938. They are using agencies to defame Congress leaders and Gandhi family."
