Acting DGP Meharda Retires

The acting director-general of police (DGP), Ravi Prakash Meharda, retired on Monday while the new DGP is likely to be declared next month, officers aware of the development said on Monday.

"If someone asks me about my next life, I must say that I want to be a police officer again. It's a whole world along with a family. All of us must pay the utmost honour to this uniform. The work of Rajasthan Police has been pretty well," Meharda said during his farewell speech at the Rajasthan Police Academy.

Meharda was appointed as the acting DGP on June 10 when the former DGP Utkal Ranjan Sahoo took a voluntary retirement from the Indian Police Service and was appointed as the chairman of the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC).
