JODHPUR: The Rajasthan high court on Friday directed the state government to submit a detailed action plan within four weeks outlining the steps taken on the suggestions provided by the amicus curiae for the identification and welfare of children from the nomadic tribes and those engaged in begging, people aware of the matter said.

The division bench comprising Justice Shree Chandrashekhar and Justice Madan Gopal Vyas issued this directive in a suo motu public interest litigation initiated to monitor the implementation of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.

The suggestions, prepared by amicus curiae Aniruddh Purohit in compliance with the court's earlier order dated September 27, 2024, propose a comprehensive framework for addressing the plight of nomadic children and those engaged in begging.

Key recommendations include deploying mobile identification units with trained personnel for field visits, creating a centralised database integrated with national child protection systems, and coordinating across states to ensure seamless tracking and rehabilitation of children.
