In among the latest of a series of leopard sightings in Rajgurunagar, Khed tehsil, a leopard was spotted wandering on the terrace of a standalone building located near a gas godown in Padali village at around 10 pm on June 25, with CCTV footage confirming the animal's presence.

PUNE: According to forest officials, the leopard might have climbed onto the terrace using a tree in the vicinity for support.

Two days later on June 27, another sighting was reported in the same area leaving residents worried about their safety. Although no attacks or injuries have been reported so far, the sightings have triggered panic among the locals who are now demanding immediate capture of the leopard.

Confirming the recurring presence of the big cat in the area, Yash Jadhao, range forest officer (RFO) for Khed, told Hindustan Times: "We inspected the area immediately after receiving the information. Two cages have already been installed, and we have ramped up efforts to raise awareness among the residents."

With Rajgurunagar witnessing a notable rise in leopard sightings in recent months, the fear is palpable and not without reason.
